Cubs release veteran reliever Rafael Soriano
Relief pitcher Rafael Soriano has been released by the Chicago Cubs.
What It Means:
The veteran right-hander was designated for assignment earlier in the week and has now been granted his outright release. Rather than search for a minor league deal, it's expected that he'll take the rest of the season off in preparation for free agency.
He only saw 5 2/3 innings of action with the Cubs this season, posting an ugly 6.85 FIP.
