Cubs' Willson Contreras (hamstring) placed on the 10-day DL
Chicago Cubs catcher Willson Contreras (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day DL on Friday.
Contreras injured his hamstring on Wednesday and is expected to be out four-to-six weeks. Alex Avila will handle the catching duties while Contreras is out. Victor Caratini has been called up from Triple-A, to back up Avila, in a corresponding move.
Contreras is slashing .274/.342/.519 with a .361 wOBA, 21 home runs, and 70 RBI in 378 plate appearances this season.
