Brett Gardner out of Yankees' lineup versus Red Sox
New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner is not starting on Friday against the Boston Red Sox.
Gardner will get a rare breather on Friday against Red Sox left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. He's slashing .254/.349/.444 with 19 home runs, 49 RBI, 71 runs scored, and 15 steals in 484 plate appearances this season. Aaron Hicks will be in left field and in the leadoff spot while Jacoby Ellsbury starts in center. Gary Sanchez is at designated hitter for the Yankees on Friday.
