Indians acquire Jay Bruce in exchange with Mets

The Cleveland Indians acquired outfielder Jay Bruce in a post-deadline trade with the New York Mets on Wednesday night.

What It Means:

In the exchange, the Mets will receive pitching prospect Ryder Ryan while the Indians pick up the remaining $5 million on Bruce's expiring contract. Given injuries to Michael Brantley (ankle) and Lonnie Chisenhall (calf), Bruce should start in right field once he's available.

With the Mets, Bruce has produced 29 homers and 75 RBI with a .353 wOBA and .264 ISO on the year. Going forward, our models like him to end the year with 10 more dingers, 28 RBI and a .264 average in 181 plate appearances with his new club.
