Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Robbie Ray (concussion) was slated to throw a bullpen session Monday.
Monday's bullpen session was Ray's first since he suffered a concussion on July 28. The 25-year-old left-hander is expected to require either a rehab outing in the minors or a simulated game before rejoining the Diamondbacks' rotation. “We want to get him through the first bullpen and then come up with a game plan,†manager Torey Lovullo said.
Ray owns a 3.11 ERA and 1.23 WHIP while striking out 11.45 batters per 9 innings pitched this season. He is 9-5 through 20 starts (118 2/3 innings).
