Tigers recall Jeimer Candelario from Triple-A Toledo
The Detroit Tigers recalled infield Jeimer Candelario from Triple-A Toledo.
After being acquired from the Chicago Cubs last week, Candelario will replace Jose Iglesias (bereavement) on the Tigers' active roster, but manager Brad Ausmus cautioned that he isn't guaranteed any playing time, so the stay may not be a long one for the 23-year-old prospect. He was held out of Monday's loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Candelario has struggled a bit in Toledo, going 5-for-26 (.192) with 2 doubles, 1 home run, and 7 strikeouts in six games for the Tigers' Triple-A affiliate. Prior to the trade, he slashed .266/.361/.507 with 12 home runs and 52 RBI in 330 plate appearances for Triple-A Iowa.
