Pittsburgh Pirates utility player Sean Rodriguez is starting on Monday against the Detroit Tigers.
Rodriguez, who was re-acquired from the Atlanta Braves last week after spending the previous two seasons with Pittsburgh, made his 2017 debut as a defensive replacement in the eighth inning on Sunday against the San Diego Padres. He then went on to smash a walk-off home run in the 12th inning. On Monday in his first start with the Pirates, Rodriguez will draw the starting nod at shortstop and bat seventh versus Tigers right-hander Jordan Zimmerman. Jordy Mercer will be available off the bench.
Zimmerman owns a paltry 15.9 strikeout percentage this season, and the Pirates have the second-highest implied total on the slate at 4.95 runs, so they offer plenty of fantasy appeal. numberFire's models project Rodriguez to score 7.5 FanDuel points at a cost of $2,200 on Monday.
