Cubs' Addison Russell not in the starting lineup on Thursday

Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell is not starting on Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

What It Means:

It's probably just a breather for Russell, who went 1-for-3 with a key error in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks. Javier Baez is starting at shortstop and batting eighth versus Diamondbacks right-hander Zack Greinke.

On the season, Russell is slashing 241/.305/.417 with 10 homers and 36 RBI in 348 plate appearances (97 games). numberFire's models project him to turn in a .244 batting average with 6 homers and 23 RBI in 183 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
