San Francisco Giants infielder Jae-Gyun Hwang was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento.
Through 18 major league appearances this season, Hwang owns an unsatisfactory .154/.228/.231 slash with 15 strikeouts (26.3 percent) across 57 plate appearances. The 30-year-old rookie from South Korea has bounced back and forth between the minors and the big leagues already this season, so he could find himself back on the Giants' roster in September when rosters expand.
With a 41-68 on the season, the Giants are dead last in numberFire's MLB Team Power Rankings.
