Tigers place Justin Verlander on revocable trade waivers
The Detroit Tigers placed pitcher Justin Verlander on revocable trade waivers on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.
Others will follow, but Verlander is one of the first players to hit revocable waivers this August. With a giant contract, it's likely he goes through unclaimed, which would allow Detroit to explore trades with any and all clubs.
With a 2.95 nERD, Verlander rates out as MLB's 14th-best pitcher. As for the rest of the year, our models project the 34-year-old for a 4-3 record, 4.17 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 62-plus innings.
