Atlanta's Freddie Freeman making move back to first base
Atlanta Braves infielder Freddie Freeman is making a permanent move back to first base, per MLB.com's Mark Bowman.
Upon activating Freeman from the disabled list at the beginning of July, the Braves decided to experiment with Freeman at third base as they hoped to play Matt Adams at first base for the foreseeable future. Not even a month later, that trial run is over. Freeman will be an everyday first baseman as Adams enters the team's rotation in left field. Brandon Phillips and Johan Camargo figure to get the starts at third while call-up Ozzie Albies plays second the remainder of the year.
Over 16 starts and 136 innings in the field, Freeman tallied 13 putouts to 1 error, with a .971 fielding percentage in 14 chances at third base.
