The Oakland Athletics acquired outfielder Dustin Fowler, infield/outfield prospect Jorge Mateo, and starting pitcher Jameson Kaprielian from the New York Yankees in exchange for starting pitcher Sonny Gray and $1.5 million in international spending money.
Fowler's season was cut short when he ruptured his patella tendon in his right knee during his MLB debut on June 29, but the talented 22-year-old should be back to 100 percent by the start of next season.
Prior to injury, Fowler slashed .293/.329/.542 with 13 home runs, 43 RBI, 49 runs scored, and 13 steals in 313 plate appearances (70 games) for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.
