Diamondbacks to place Ketel Marte on bereavement list
The Arizona Diamondbacks are expected to place infielder Ketel Marte on the bereavement list following the death of his mother, per MLB.com's Steve Gilbert.
What It Means:
Marte's mother tragically died in a car accident yesterday in the Dominican Republic. He has already left the club and will be away from it for as long as necessary. In response, the Diamondbacks signed free agent Emilio Bonifacio to a minor league contract with both Chris Owings (finger) and Nick Ahmed (hand) on the disabled list.
