The Detroit Tigers acquired third baseman Jeimer Candelario and Issac Paredes, and a player to be named later or cash considerations from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for reliever Justin Wilson and catcher Alex Avila.
It remains to be seen how things play out, but Candelario's arrival in Detroit could possibly mean Nick Castellanos is moved to the outfield. Despite going just 5-for-33 (.152) with 1 home run and 3 RBI in 11 games for the Cubs this season, the 23-year-old rookie is ready for the big leagues.
Over 81 games at Triple-A Iowa this season, Candelario slashed .266/.361/.507 with 12 home runs and 52 RBI in 330 plate appearances.
