Royals acquire Melky Cabrera from White Sox
The Kansas City Royals acquired outfielder Melky Cabrera and cash considerations from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for pitchers A.J. Puckett and Andre Davis.
Cabrera returns back to Kansas City, where he played for a season in 2011. He will likely see time at both DH and left field -- in place of the struggling Brandon Moss and Alex Gordon -- as the Royals add a veteran bat to their lineup for a late season push.
Our models project Cabrera for a .291 batting average and 25 runs scored in 223 plate appearances the rest of the season.
