D-Backs' Robbie Ray leaves after taking liner to head
Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Robbie Ray was forced to leave Friday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals after taking a Luke Voit line drive off of his head.
Ray was hit by the comebacker in the bottom of the second inning. Fortunately, the pitcher was able to stay conscious the whole time before being helped to a cart and driven off the field. Ray is scheduled to undergo further testing with the D-Backs providing an update late in the evening.
Ray owns a 3.90 xFIP and a 30.7% strikeout rate while going 9-5 through 19 starts (117 innings) this season.
