Toronto Blue Jays catcher Miguel Montero is not starting on Thursday versus the Oakland Athletics.
Montero returns to the bench after starting behind the plate on Wednesday for Toronto. He's struggled since being acquired from the Chicago Cubs on July 3, going just 2-for-25 (.080) across nine contests as Russell Martin's backup. Martin is starting on Thursday and batting second versus Athletics left-hander Sean Manaea.
numberFire's models project Montero to record a .222 batting average in only 82 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
