Alex Gordon to rest Wednesday as Royals face Tigers
Kansas City Royals outfielder Alex Gordon is not in the lineup Wednesday as the team faces the Detroit Tigers.
Gordon returned from the disabled list Tuesday, going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Jonny Gomes will bat sixth and play right field while Paulo Orlando will bat ninth and play in left.
This will be Gomes's debut with the Royals after being acquired via trade from the Atlanta Braves on Monday. The Royals are facing Tigers' lefty Randy Wolf. Gomes has posted hard-hit rates of 33.0 percent or higher in eight of the past nine seasons with the lone exception being a mark of 29.6 percent last season. Gomes is only $2,400 on FanDuel, so he is at least an interesting option in tournaments.
