Oakland Athletics catcher Stephen Vogt is out of the lineup Wednesday as the A's face the Los Angeles Angels.
With Vogt having caught Tuesday night's game and left-hander Andrew Heaney on the mound, Vogt's absence doesn't come as a surprise. Instead, Josh Phegley will catch and bat fifth.
The bulk of Phegley's production this season has come against lefties. He holds a career 28.8 percent hard-hit rate and only strikes out 16.2 percent of the time. As for Heaney, he has a 4.22 xFIP in his rookie season, but that leaps up to 4.95 against right-handed batters. Phegley's FanDuel price, however, is high at $2,700, pushing him into the middle tier among catchers in value for the early slate.
