Jeff Mathis on Arizona's bench Tuesday night
Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Jeff Mathis is not starting on Tuesday versus the Atlanta Braves.
After a rough start to the year, Mathis has been on a roll lately, with hits in a season-high six straight contests, as well as 11 of his past 12. For the season overall, he still owns a poor .211/.261/.333 slash in 158 plate appearances (47 games). Chris Iannetta will catch Diamondbacks right-hander Taijuan Walker while batting eighth versus Braves right Mike Foltynewicz.
numberFire's models project Mathis to turn in a .224 batting over in 106 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
