The Oakland Athletics are in search of a young center fielder in exchange for pitcher Sonny Gray, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
With Gray under team control until 2019, Oakland's ask is definitely high but reasonable. They're honing in on the center field spot, so they could look to acquire New York Yankees outfield prospect Estevan Florial. Whether the Yankees are willing to give him up is another thing.
The Athletics rank 29th, with a .278 wOBA on the year from the center field position. Meanwhile, Florial owns a .385 wOBA in 368 plate appearances at Single-A Charleston this season.
