Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell is not starting on Monday versus the Toronto Blue Jays.
Josh Phegley is starting behind the plate and catching right-hander Chris Smith, so Maxwell will head to the bench after two consecutive starts. He's slashing .259/.375/.358 in 96 plate appearances (30 games) this season.
numberFire's models project Maxwell to record a .253 batting average in 96 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
