The Boston Red Sox will recall top prospect Rafael Devers from Triple-A Pawtucket to play third base, team president Dave Dombrowski announced Sunday.
The 20-year-old Dominican Republic native was just promoted to Triple-A on July 14, and he responded by going 14-of-45 (.400) with 2 home runs and 4 RBI in his nine outings. With playing time guaranteed, Devers is worth an add in all formats.
At Double-A Portland this season, Devers slashed .300/.369/.575 with 19 doubles, 18 dingers, 56 RBI, and 48 runs scored in 320 plate appearances (77 games).
