Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder J.D. Martinez (hand) remained out of the lineup Sunday against the Washington Nationals.
Martinez hasn't played since making his club debut on Wednesday due to a pitch plunking him in his left hand. He's expected to be back soon. Daniel Descalso is starting again in left field and leading off versus Nationals ace right-hander Stephen Strasburg.
Martinez is slashing .302/.385/.624 with 16 home runs, 39 RBI, and 38 runs scored in 234 plate appearances (58 games) this season. numberFire's models project him to turn in a .291 batting average with 7 homers, 22 RBI, and 22 runs scored over 145 remaining plate appearances in 2017.
