Cincinnati Reds second baseman/shortstop Jose Peraza is not in Friday's starting lineup versus the Miami Marlins.
Scooter Gennett is starting at second base while Zack Cozart is handling shortstop for the Reds versus right-hander Jose Urena and the Marlins. Peraza started four of the last five for Cincinnati, but manager Bryan Price informed the 23-year-old middle infielder that Gennett and Cozart will be the starters moving forward.
Peraza owns a .253/.277/.328 slash with 15 steals in 358 plate appearances (90 games) this season. numberFire's models currently project him to turn in a .292 batting average with 13 more steals in 250 plate appearances over the remainder of the year, but that doesn't account for the expected drop in playing time.
