Twins finalizing deal with Braves to acquire Jaime Garcia

The Minnesota Twins are finalizing a deal to acquire starting pitcher Jaime Garcia from the Atlanta Braves, says Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

What It Means:

The deal was first reported on Thursday by FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, and it's expected to be a one-for-one exchange with the Braves getting a minor league prospect from Minnesota. Garcia's contract runs out at the end of the season, so the Twins would be bringing him in as a rental to boost their rotation. The 31-year-old left-hander owns a 4.33 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 18.2 strikeout percentage in 106 innings this year. He's 3-7 through 17 starts.

numberFire's models project Garcia to turn in a 3.99 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 16.9 strikeout percentage in 76 2/3 innings over the rest of the season.
