Brewers interested in Tigers' Justin Verlander
The Milwaukee Brewers have expressed interest in Detroit Tigers' starter Justin Verlander, according to the Detroit Free Press' Anthony Fenech.
The 34-year-old right-hander is still due $60 million through 2019, but Detroit could decide to take some of that on if they wish to add young talent to their aging roster. For Milwaukee, Verlander would help improve a pitching staff ranked 16th on the year in FIP.
In 20 starts, Verlander is 5-7 with a 4.25 FIP and 8.54 strikeouts per 9 innings. Our algorithms project him for a 5-4 record and 68 strikeouts across 76 innings the remainder of the year.
