Tyler Clippard to get first chance at saves for White Sox

Chicago White Sox reliever Tyler Clippard will get the first crack at save chances, manager Rick Renteria said.

What It Means:

Clippard was acquired from the New York Yankees in Tuesday's Todd Frazier trade, and he should see plenty of playing time following the departures of David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle in the same deal. The 32-year-old right-hander isn't an ideal fantasy option, but he's worth owning in most leagues. Across 36 1/3 innings this season, Clippard owns a 4.95 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 26.6 strikeout percentage while converting on just 1-of-6 save chances.

numberFire's models project Clippard to record a 3.46 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 25.9 strikeout percentage in 26 more innings over the remainder of the season.
