Tony Wolters sitting as Rockies close series with Padres

Colorado Rockies catcher Tony Wolters is not starting in Wednesday's matchup with the San Diego Padres.

What It Means:

Wolters started the last two for Colorado, but he will be replaced behind the plate by Ryan Hanigan, who is lined up in the eight-hole against Padres southpaw Clayton Richard.

The young backstop is slashing .259/.357/.308 with no taters, 14 RBI, and 28 runs scored over 214 plate appearances (61 games) in his sophomore season. numberFire's models project Wolters to record a .261 batting average with 15 RBI, and 17 runs scored in 155 more plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
