Boston's Xander Bogaerts diagnosed with sprain in right hand
Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts has been diagnosed with a muscle contusion and small sprain of a joint in his right hand.
Bogaerts was scratched from the Red Sox starting lineup on Tuesday night, but he was able to contribute as a pinch-runner. He's considered day-to-day.
For the season, Bogaerts is slashing .296/.353/.432 with 9 steals in 87 games. numberFire's models project him to record a .294 batting average with 7 more steals in 261 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
