Yankees acquire Todd Frazier in seven-player swap with White Sox

The New York Yankees acquired third baseman Todd Frazier and right-handed pitchers David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle from the Chicago White Sox for outfielder Blake Rutherford, left-hander Ian Clarkin, outfielder Tito Polo, and right-hander Tyler Clippard.

What It Means:

Frazier can play both third base and first for the Yankees, and he's scheduled to become a free agent this offseason. The 31-year-old infielder is slashing .207/.328/.432 with 16 home runs, 44 RBI, and 41 runs scored in 335 plate appearances (81 games) this season. While Frazier is the big headline grab in the deal, both Robertson (2.70 ERA) and Kahnle (2.50) are key upgrades for a New York team that needed help in the bullpen. They will work in setup roles for the Yankees.

numberFire's models project Frazier to record a .234 batting average with 11 homers, 32 RBI, and 31 runs scored in 249 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
