Danny Salazar (shoulder) could return to Indians' rotation this week

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Danny Salazar (shoulder) could rejoin the club's rotation later this week, based on comments from manager Terry Francona.

What It Means:

“Regardless of what happens, he’ll stay in Columbus for the next four days even if he’s going to pitch for us,” Francona said Monday night. “We’ll call him Tuesday as a group with more information on what we think the next start looks like.” It's not clear whether the media will also be updated on Tuesday, but things seem to be pointing towards Salazar returning within the next few days. The 27-year-old right-hander turned in six shutout innings for Triple-A Columbus on Sunday in his last rehab start while striking out nine. Josh Tomlin and Trevor Bauer are both at risk of losing their spot in the Indians' rotation upon Salazar's return.

Prior to landing on the DL, Salazar recorded a 5.40 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, and 30.9 strikeout percentage over 55 innings. He's 3-5 in 10 starts (12 appearances) at the big league level this season.
