Max Scherzer to start on Saturday for the Nationals
Washington Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer will take the mound on Saturday versus the Cincinnati Reds.
Scherzer made his last start on July 7 but got some work in during the break as he tossed an inning of relief for the National League All-Star Team on Tuesday. The Nats decided to give their ace an extra day of rest as Gio Gonzalez will pitch in the series opener on Friday in Cincinnati.
Our models project Scherzer for a 3.01 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 100 strikeouts in 98 2/3 innings pitched the rest of the season.
