Washington Nationals pitcher Joe Ross was removed from Sunday's start against the Braves due to tenderness in his triceps.
An MRI will determine whether or not the injury will require a stint on the disabled list after the All-Star break. Ross lasted only 3 1/3 innings before he was pulled. The 24-year-old right-hander allowed 3 runs on 3 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts in what wound up being a 10-5 victory for the Nationals. Prior to Sunday's no-decision, he hadn't given up more than two earned runs in four consecutive starts.
For the season, Ross owns a 5.01 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and 21.1 strikeout percentage across 73 2/3 innings. He's gone 5-3 in 13 starts.
