Twins sign Bartolo Colon to minor league deal
Former Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Bartolo Colon has signed with the Minnesota Twins on a minor league deal.
Colon was released by the Braves after a shellacking at the hands of the San Diego Padres on June 28. He was rumored to be close to returning to the New York Mets but will instead report to Triple-A Rochester after signing a deal with the Twins. Colon will serve as depth for their big league rotation and will likely earn a start or two at some point this season for Minnesota.
Colon posted a 2-8 record with an 8.14 ERA, 1.78 WHIP, and 42 strikeouts in 13 starts (63 innings) with the Braves this season.
