St. Louis Cardinals infielder Greg Garcia is not starting against the New York Mets on Friday night.
Garcia will take a seat, opening up shortstop duties for Paul DeJon on Friday night. He will bat eighth versus Mets right-hander Jacob DeGrom.
The 27-year-old infielder is batting .223/.348/.300 in 69 games this season. numberFire's models project him to record a .240 batting average in 151 plate appearances over the remainder of the season.
