Brewers looking into White Sox' Jose Quintana, Oakland's Sonny Gray
The Milwaukee Brewers "are prepared to buy" at the trade deadline and have begun background work on Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Jose Quintana, Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Sonny Gray and other starters, reports Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
The Brewers own a 4.5 game lead in the NL Central and it sounds like they're committed to keeping it. They have one of the better farm systems in baseball, so whether it's Quintana, Gray, or someone else, Milwaukee has the assets required to land a big-name starter.
As a unit, the Brewers starters own a 4.09 ERA (7th in the majors), 1.32 WHIP (10th), and 19.8 strikeout percentage (14th) this season. They're currently 9th in numberFire's MLB Team Power Rankings.
