Nationals plan on placing Michael Taylor (oblique) on disabled list
Washington Nationals outfielder Michael Taylor will be placed on the disabled list with a right oblique strain.
Taylor said the injury, which he's been playing through for a while now, got "significantly worse" on a swing during Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves. Nationals manager Dusty Baker is hopeful Taylor will be back shortly after the All-Star break and he referred to the strain as mild. Chris Heisey (biceps) will be activated from the disabled list in a corresponding move. Look for him to split work in left field with Ryan Raburn and Wilmer Difo. Brian Goodwin is expected to move over to center.
The 26-year-old outfielder is slashing .278/.320/.510 with 12 home runs, 35 RBI, and 10 steals in 260 plate appearances (72 games) this season. Prior to this news, numberFire's models projected Taylor to turn in a .255 batting average with 4 home runs, 13 RBI, and another 5 steals in 121 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
