St. Louis Cardinals infielder Paul DeJong is absent from Thursday's starting lineup against the Miami Marlins.
DeJong will take a seat, opening up shortstop for Greg Garcia while Jedd Gyorko handles the hot corner for the Cardinals. Garcia will hit eighth while Gyorko serves as the cleanup man versus Marlins right-hander Tom Koehler.
For the season, DeJong is slashing .261/.283/.461 with 6 home runs and 16 RBI in 32 games. numberFire's models project him to turn in a .236 batting average in 119 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
