Cubs recall Kyle Schwarber from Triple-A on Thursday
The Chicago Cubs recalled outfielder Kyle Schwarber from Triple-A Iowa on Thursday.
John Lackey (foot) was placed on the 10-day disabled list in a corresponding roster move. Schwarber slashed a weak .171/.295/.378 in the majors prior to being sent down on June 22, though he did crank 12 home runs in 261 plate appearances. Look for the 24-year-old slugger to get his groove back at the plate following the brief demotion. The Cubs open a series with the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday.
Down at Triple-A, Schwarber slashed .343/.477/.714 with four home runs and nine RBI in 11 games.
