Mets acquire Addison Reed from the Diamondbacks

New York Mets acquired right-handed reliever Addison Reed from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

What It Means:

It's been a rough year or so for Reed, who was traded from the Chicago White Sox in the offseason, then closed games for the Diamondbacks, and was demoted to Triple-A Reno in June. He'll find spacious Citi Field a more inviting home than Chase Field. There is no confirmation of what Arizona will receive in return.

Over the last month, he has turned it around, putting together a 1.35 ERA and a 9:3 strikeout to walk rate in August. He should contribute to the Mets during their playoff run as bullpen depth.
