Trevor Plouffe

Trevor Plouffe sitting on Wednesday for Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Trevor Plouffe is not starting on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs.

What It Means:

Plouffe will take a seat after filling in at first base on Independence Day against Cubs left-hander Jon Lester. He singled and scored, but continues to struggle on the season, going 45-for-206 (.218) at the dish. Logan Morrison is back on first for Tampa Bay while Evan Longoria is taking care of things at the hot corner. On the hill for the Cubs will be right-handed hurler John Lackey.

numberFire's models project Plouffe to turn in a .241 batting average with 7 home runs and 27 RBI in 219 plate appearances over the remainder of the season.
