Giants place Matt Cain (elbow) on 15-day DL
San Francisco Giants placed RHP Matt Cain on the 15-day disabled list with nerve irritation in his right elbow.
Cain has been atrocious this season. Since his return from the disabled list in July, he's made just ten starts and lasted through six innings in only four of them. The nerve irritation may have been a factor in his poor play, but we won't be surprised to see him shut down for the season. Chris Heston will start on Sunday in his absence.
In his just 52.2 innings pitched, Cain has compiled an unsightly 6.15 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP, along with a 38:17 strikeout to walk ratio. Chalk 2015 up as a lost season for the big righty.
