Jonathan Lucroy

Jonathan Lucroy a trade possibility for the Rangers

The Texas Rangers are "open" to trading catcher Jonathan Lucroy, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

What It Means:

The Rangers are "highly unlikely" to make Lucroy a qualifying offer this winter, per Rosenthal, so they may opt to deal him now and roll with an impressive Robinson Chirinos (.918 batting average, 12 home runs) and Brett Nicholas (.833, six home runs at Triple-A Round Rock) behind the plate. Lucroy has disappointed to the tune of a .263/.311/.375 slash with four home runs, 20 RBI, and 23 runs scored in 241 plate appearances (60 games) this season.

numberFire's models currently project the 31-year-old backstop to record a .272 batting average in 238 plate appearances over the rest of the season with 6 home runs, 27 RBI, and 25 runs scored.
