Kris Bryant (ankle) not in the lineup as Cubs face Washington
Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is absent from Thursday's lineup against the Washington Nationals.
What It Means:
Bryant rolled his ankle in the fifth inning on Wednesday night and it remains to be seen whether or not he'll require a trip to the disabled list. X-rays came back negative for any structural damage. Jeimer Candelario is starting on the hot corner for the Cubs and batting sixth versus Nationals right-hander Joe Ross on Thursday.
Assuming he can avoid a DL stint, our models currently project Bryant to add 16 home runs, 47 RBI, and 6 stolen bases to his totals over the remainder of the season while turning in a .284 batting average in 332 plate appearances.
