Diamondbacks put Nick Ahmed (hand) on DL
The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed shortstop Nick Ahmed on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured right hand.
Ahmed was hit by a pitch on Tuesday night and suffered a small fracture in his throwing hand in the process. There is no timetable set for Ahmed's return. Since the injury occurred, Arizona has called up Ketel Marte and will look for him to soak up some of Ahmed's starts alongside Chris Owings.
Through 53 games, Ahmed was hitting a career-best .251 with 6 home runs and 21 RBI in 178 plate appearances. Prior to the injury, our projections had him at 2 home runs and a .248 average the rest of the way.
