Tigers' Justin Verlander expected to be on the trade block
Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander is expected to land on trade block in the near future, per Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.
The Tigers have plans to reduce their payroll, and with the 34-year-old Verlander set to make $56 million over the next two seasons, it's not a surprise that they'll look to move him.
Verlander has opened 2017 with a 4.47 ERA and 4.71 SIERA -- his worst since his 2005 rookie season -- and (not accounting for a potential trade) numberFire's models project him for a 4.02 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP in 99 innings pitched over the remainder of the season.
