Arizona Diamondbacks call up shortstop Ketel Marte
The Arizona Diamondbacks have recalled minor league shortstop Ketel Marte, per FanRag Sports' Robert Murray.
What It Means:
Marte will serve as Nick Ahmed's replacement as he heads to the disabled list with a fractured hand. Along with him, Chris Owings will be forced to play more short if and when Marte is out of the Arizona lineup.
Marte had stints with the Mariners in 2015 and 2016, but the 23-year-old has most recently played for the Reno Aces of the Pacific Coast League. There, he has totaled 6 home runs, 41 RBI with a .398 wOBA in 334 plate appearances.
