Cubs promote Jeimer Candelario, start him versus Nationals
The Chicago Cubs have called up Jeimer Candelario from Triple-A and have him in the lineup on Monday.
Candelario will provide infield depth as Addison Russell nurses a sore shoulder. The 23-year-old went 3-for-21 (.143) in a previous call-up this season. Candelario is batting sixth and playing at third base Monday, sending Tommy La Stella back to the bench.
The Cubs own a modest implied run total of 4.53 and are facing a groundball-heavy pitcher (.838 groundball/flyball ratio) in Gio Gonzalez. Both factors, plus his early season struggles, make Candelario a risky DFS play on Monday.
