Dustin Pedroia (ribs) not in the Red Sox' lineup Monday
Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia (ribs) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals.
X-rays came back negative after Pedroia was hit in the ribs by a pitch on Sunday, but he'll get at least one day off while he recovers. Josh Rutledge will slide over to second base while Pablo Sandoval gets the start at third on Monday.
Pedroia has hit for a .296/.368/.376 slash with a .327 wOBA in 2017. numberFire's models project him to hit .307 and add 5 home runs, 33 RBI and 44 runs scored in 342 plate appearances over the remainder of the season.
